7 bathrooms but only 6 bedrooms, why is this happening in this Marbella villa?

What do you look for in a holiday home? Space, light, perhaps a pool? How many bathrooms do you feel you’d need in a 6-bedroom villa – 2 or 3 maybe?
We couldn’t believe it when we found Villa Monte Halcones and saw that it has more bathrooms than it does bedrooms, so we contacted the company who rents it out, to find out what’s going on!

Why does this villa have more bathrooms than bedrooms?

Borja Rodriguez, CEO of Vacation Marbella explains. “Gone are the days where one family bathroom is shared and when everyone is trying to get ready in the morning there’s a fight for who is next. Many of us remember that from our childhood, and do not want to repeat it!
Privacy and space are paramount in modern, luxury villas and so every bedroom must have an ensuite bathroom of their own – that’s a given. So, in this villa, there are six bedrooms, with their own bathrooms.
But what about if you’re entertaining? You don’t want a guest to have to go through a bedroom to go to the bathroom. Also, even when you don’t have guests, you don’t want to have to go upstairs from the dining area or kitchen to use the restroom.
This is why Villa Monte Halcones, and many of the properties on our books, have a separate toilet on the main floor. Some also have one in the pool area, for maximum convenience and no need to walk through the house while you’re wet to use the bathroom.
It might look strange on paper, but it’s a really good thing to have.”

Bathroom

What do customers think about this peculiarity?

“It’s a really popular feature for our guests, who are looking for a luxurious experience. The more bathrooms the better to be honest!
Luxury is space, privacy and convenience, where every detail has been designed to make your life easier. Modern villa design takes into consideration the way we like to live, and aims to make living there a pleasure, while making the most of the location, views and climate.
When people book a luxury villa for their holiday, they are either an extended family group or a group of friends. In both cases, having great shared spaces for relaxing and enjoying precious free time together is a top priority. That’s where the large open plan kitchen, dining and living space comes in handy, as do the large and comfortable terraces and sun loungers around the pool. The cinema room and billiards table both offer fantastic relaxation spaces for family and friends too.
But once clients know they have communal spaces, the next question is where can we get privacy and tranquillity and get away from the group!

Mater Bathroom in Marbella

Private terraces off bedrooms are great for having a quiet morning coffee, doing morning exercise, or simply relaxing with a book in privacy.
Bathrooms are other things that people would rather not share. They like to be able to have their cosmetics and products out, but don’t want to feel they are making a mess in another person’s space. They want to feel comfortable showering and getting ready, with total privacy, without worrying that they are making other people wait their turn.
So, in the case of Villa Monte Halcones, it can sleep 12 people, so when you think of that, having 7 bathrooms doesn’t seem excessive. I think many clients would like to have one per person.
It’s unlikely that everyone will want to shower or use the bathroom at the same time of course, but when everyone is coming off the beach, or out of the pool, and getting ready for dinner, you’ll see all those bathrooms being used. It’s definitely not wasted!”

When they explain it like that, it leads me to wonder how I’ve coped with so few bathrooms in my house all these years! Time for a refurb perhaps?!
