Luxury wine boutique opens in Mayfair

Mayfair‘s wine lovers will delight in the new luxury wine merchant that has opened on Davies Street, just around the corner from fashionable Berkley Square.

Wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glass windows and spanning over two floors, Hedonism Wines aims to give customers a new unique and luxurious wine retail experience. Former Harrods wine and spirits buyer Alistair Viner has helped select only the finest bottles, with an emphasis on the iconic and quirky. Over 500 square meters of wine has been garnered from some of the world’s greatest collections and vineyards, including many rare vintages that you are unlikely to find elsewhere.

Bottles range from £20 up to a staggering £50,000, demonstrating the high level of quality available. An extensive collection of Chateau Lafite Rothschild is one of the boutique’s star offerings, but they also stock 1999 DRC La Tache, a complete vertical of Masseto and a luxury bottling of 2004 Kalimna Block 42 Cabernet Sauvignon. The store is even home to a Penfold Ampoules, one of only 12 of its kind in the world.

Elegantly designed tasting ‘zones’ in oak and steel give the shop a chic, industrial feel, with private champagne and whiskey rooms for those looking for something a little different. The shop floor is constantly kept at 16 degrees—the perfect temperature at which wine should be served—so that customers can taste the wine at its optimum level of quality, and cloaks are distributed in case customers feel a little chilly. Many of the staff members are former sommeliers from Michelin-starred restaurants, on hand to offer exceptional customer service and help you choose the perfect bottle.
