London Fashion Week Skin Playbook (Mayfair Edition)

Your 48-hour and same-day plan for shows, showroom calls, and dinners in W1—minimal faff, maximum polish.

London Fashion Week runs 18–22 September 2025 across the capital, with presentations, citywide moments and late-night events on the cards. This guide was created with input from Dr Natalie Geary, Founder & Medical Director at Light Touch Clinic, to keep your skin camera-ready from first fitting to last nightcap.

If you have 48 hours before your first show

Night –2 (Prep, not overhaul)

  • Strip things back: gentle cleanse, apply a hydrating serum, then moisturiser. Avoid trying new acids; irritation reads harshly under show lighting.
  • If you already use retinol, keep your usual low dose; if not, now isn’t the moment to start.

Day –1 (Polish, don’t punish)

  • Morning: Vitamin C, then a lightweight broad-spectrum SPF 30/50, and finish with moisturiser or primer.
  • Evening: Nourish, think ceramides, glycerin, or squalane. Massage along jaw/temples to de-puff; finish with a cool (not icy) compress for 2-3 minutes.

“Consistency beats last-minute heroics. Keep the barrier calm, feed it hydration, and lock it with SPF. Your skin will look better in every lens.” – Dr Natalie Geary, Light Touch Clinic

Show day (AM): the minimalist trio

  • Cleanse (lukewarm) to keep redness at bay.
  • Vitamin C for brightness and environmental defence.
  • SPF 30/50 as your non-negotiable final layer – yes, even in September, sun damage doesn’t take a day off. Reapply if you’re outdoors between venues.

Flash-friendly tip: favour fluid or gel-cream SPFs that settle clear and don’t pill under make-up or beard-line grooming products.

Between shows in Mayfair

Base yourself near Bond Street, Mount Street, and Savile Row, and you’ll be steps from galleries, hotels and quiet corners to reset. A brisk walk helps lymphatic flow; finish with water (not coffee) before your next call. Bond Street’s luxury precincts also make a handy pit stop for last-minute grooming essentials.

Quick reset kit (pocket edition): travel cleanser, mini hydrating mist, lip balm, SPF stick/compact, blotting papers.

“If you’re prone to shine, think ‘blot, then top-up’. Absorb oil first, then reapply SPF – never the other way round.” – Dr Natalie Geary, Light Touch Clinic

Afternoon touch-ups (without the cake-face)

  • Rehydrate strategically: a few drops of hyaluronic serum pressed over makeup, then blot.
  • Tidy the beard line: use a fragrance-free moisturiser to soothe any razor-catch redness along cheeks/neck.
  • SPF top-up: stick or cushion formats are ideal for quick application.

Dinner to after-party (PM): look alive, not shiny

  • Cleanse fully before outfit change. City grime + sunscreen + make-up is breakout fuel.
  • Moisturise lightly; add a whisper of liquid highlighter to high points rather than piling on emollient creams.
  • Keep fragrance off the face/neck – it’s a classic irritant when heat and collars rub.

Late-night recovery (when you finally get home)

  • Double cleanse (oil/milk then gel) and pat dry.
  • Skip strong acids. Reach for barrier-loving layers: niacinamide or panthenol serum → ceramide-rich moisturiser.
  • Eye de-puff: cool spoon or reusable gel mask for 2–3 minutes.

“Post-event, the goal is repair: cleanse well, then feed the barrier. A calm face tomorrow beats a shiny one tonight.” – Dr Natalie Geary, Light Touch Clinic

The menswear/beauty drawer edit for W1

  • AM: add cleanser, then a Vitamin C serum, and finish with SPF 30/50.
  • On-the-go: hydrating mist, blotting papers, then an SPF top-up.
  • PM: cleanser, then barrier serum, finishing with moisturiser.
  • What to park till Monday: new peels, high-dose retinoids, aggressive scrubs.

Absolutely—here’s an expanded, drop-in section that stays concise but more practical and inclusive.

Shade-inclusive notes (PIH, ingrowns, deeper tones)

If you’re prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), prevention beats correction. Keep friction low around collars, scarves and mask edges (choose smooth linings like silk/modal; avoid scratchy wool at the neck).

Work a thin layer of moisturiser along contact points before heading out. Apply Vitamin C right up to the beard perimeter each morning and reapply broad-spectrum SPF when moving between daylight and venues with large windows – UVA penetrates glass, and fresh marks darken faster without protection.

SPF recommendations: look for “broad-spectrum” and a “UVA in a circle” symbol. Sheer gels, fluids and tinted mineral or hybrid SPFs sit well on deeper tones and play nicely under grooming products.

Ingrowns & razor bumps (all tones, especially in curlier hair types):

  • Trim, don’t chase baby-smooth on show days: use a guard or an electric trimmer to avoid sub-surface cut hairs that re-curl.

  • Shave smart: warm water, cushioning gel/cream, with the grain, no skin-stretching, and a sharp blade (change regularly). Cold rinse, pat dry, then a fragrance-free moisturiser.

  • Targeted care: use a salicylic acid (BHA) face wash 2–3×/week on the beard area; reserve retinol for non-shave nights. For persistent bumps or dark marks, azelaic acid is a good, well-tolerated option – start at a low dose.

Fading existing PIH: patience and sunscreen is the key. Daily Vitamin C helps even tone; retinoids at night (introduced gradually) support cell turnover; niacinamide can calm and brighten. If marks linger for months, a doctor-led review can map a simple plan (and rule out over-treating sensitive areas).

“For deeper skin tones, the win is gentle, consistent care: minimise friction, protect daily with SPF, and add actives slowly. Prevention makes fading far easier.” – Dr Natalie Geary, Light Touch Clinic

Need a professional once LFW wraps up?

If lingering dullness, breakouts or razor bumps outstay their welcome, book a short doctor-led skin review to map a simple plan (think: gentle course corrections, not a product pile-on). Light Touch Clinic can advise on evidence-based options and timelines without over-treating.

Saveable checklist (screenshot this)

  • 48h out: hydrate, don’t experiment
  • Show morning: cleanse – Vitamin C – SPF 30/50
  • Between shows: get your steps in, water, blot – SPF top-up
  • Evening: cleanse fully; moisturise lightly
  • Late night: repair mode, no harsh actives
