Kismet by Milka designs jewellery to be added to rather than finished, working in fine chains, ear combinations and rings meant to sit three or four deep on the same finger. That is an unusual proposition on a street built around the single important purchase.

The house was founded in Istanbul in 2009 by Milka Karaagacli Ince and built its following on pieces light enough to wear every day without thinking about them. New Bond Street is its first European flagship, which is why the opening drew attention well beyond the trade press.

Diamonds are set at a scale intended for daily wear rather than for an occasion, so the interest is in how pieces behave together rather than in any one of them alone. The store is arranged for experimenting on your own hand instead of viewing under glass.

Building it up over time

Most customers here start with one or two pieces and return, which is the model the house was designed around. Ask what will still be available in a year before you commit to a combination you intend to complete slowly.
