The Fayre restaurant at The Shepherd Mayfair is due to open in October 2026 at 2 Stanhope Row, on the edge of Shepherd Market, Spear’s reported on 22 September. It is a 62-cover room serving seasonal British produce alongside European classics, and the magazine calls it the newest restaurant in Mayfair, W1.
Some of what a diner needs is still missing. Neither Spear’s nor The Luxury Editor, which has also covered the hotel, names a chef, prints a price or gives the day the doors open. Anyone planning a table should confirm with the hotel that the dining room is serving before travelling.
What Is Confirmed About Fayre
The dishes named so far are lobster and prawn brioche rolls, braised beef short rib croquettes, citrus-cured trout and a beef Wellington pithivier. A dessert series called Puddings by the Glass starts with a strawberry and Champagne trifle, with a new one promised each week. The Luxury Editor describes Fayre as all-day dining, set under a brushed brass chandelier 3 metres across.
The same report lists two other rooms. The Lounge is a café and bar with an outdoor terrace and a street-facing hatch for takeaway. Teddy’s, a late-night cocktail bar built around lesser-known 1930s drinks, is set to open in November 2026, with five signature cocktails inspired by the Victorian writer Edward Bulwer-Lytton.
A Room Built Around the Original May Fair
The name is the point. The design draws on the May Fair, the fifteen-day fair held on the surrounding fields between 1686 and 1764, which gave the district its name. Wall coverings by the artist Adam Ellis show livestock markets, performers and games of chance. Spear’s adds that the hotel stands on the site of The Cottage, described as Mayfair’s oldest house and dated to 1618, and that the wider building carries references to Lord Sandwich and Tiddy Doll, with Braille and Morse details tied to the area’s wartime intelligence history.

The Hotel Around the Restaurant
The Shepherd Mayfair has 82 rooms, made up of 70 rooms and 12 suites, and is jointly owned by Bain Capital and Orka Investments, who bought the site in 2021. Orka Investments also owns 16 residences at 36 and 37 Hertford Street. A ground-floor walkway connects the Mayfair side of the building with Shepherd Market. Spear’s also reports that a pedestrian-priority public square, led by the Reuben Brothers, is planned for Shepherd Market, which would change how people arrive at this corner of the City of Westminster.
Shepherd Market’s Older Rooms
A new dining room here joins some of the oldest licensed premises in the district. The King’s Arms at 2 Shepherd Market dates back to 1742, and The Market Tavern at 7 Shepherd Street was built in 1808, close to the original site of the fair that Fayre is named after. Both are in our directory, as is Shepherd Market Wine House.
Green Park and Hyde Park Corner are the nearest Underground stations to Shepherd Market. We will update this page when the hotel publishes an opening date, a menu with prices and booking details.
