Mercato Mayfair is a three-level food hall and cultural venue inside the Grade I-listed former St Mark’s Church on North Audley Street, Mayfair, London. Run by Mercato Metropolitano and open since 2019, it pairs rotating independent food traders with bars, events and a genuinely memorable setting.

• Ground floor (nave): the main food hall with a changing line-up of kitchens and plenty of communal seating beneath the church interior.
• First-floor gallery: extra seating and additional food options, looking down into the nave.

A short history worth knowing

St Mark’s was built in 1825–1828 to designs by J. P. Gandy-Deering in a Greek Revival style. In 1878, Sir Arthur Blomfield remodelled the interior, introducing a Romanesque roof structure and architectural detailing. After being deconsecrated in 1974, the church spent years underused before returning to public life. It was also known locally as “the American Church” due to its proximity to the former US Embassy in Grosvenor Square, with President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Eleanor Roosevelt reported to have attended services there.
