RICHARD GELDING was founded by Richard in 1976 on the current site in Mayfair and from the beginning Richard prided himself on the knowledge and experience of his sales people and the highly personalised level of service that they are able to offer. In 2005 Richard retired and his successor is David Moss who stems from a long line of menswear retailers, stretching back to his great great grandfather who established himself as a London retailer in 1840. David has many years of menswear experience, stacking shelves in his father's stores aged 9; working with Peek and Cloppenburg in Düsseldorf after graduation; and directing the market leading menswear team at Moss Bros through the 1990s. In 2001 David was the UK's representative for the International Menswear Group, a collection of leading independent menswear retailers from around the globe. The store is managed by Phillip Currell (above right) who joined the business in 1980, shortly after it was opened. His many years of service have given him a knowledge of customers and product surely unsurpassed by few on the London menswear scene. Tony Yurdakul (above left) arrived at Richard Gelding in 2003 after managing the menswear business for the famous London store Fortnum and Mason. He brings obvious expertise and natural flair to the business. With our own alterations tailor, here on the premises, we are able to ensure that you can take away your garments without delay. Our Customers live in 30 countries from around the world, and include families who have been shopping with us for 2 generations! The loyalty of Richard Gelding's customers is a source of enormous pride for those who work in the business and we are delighted that so many choose to return to us season after season.
