Claridge’s says goodbye to Gordon Ramsay

The London Evening Standard has revealed that Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant at prestigious Mayfair hotel Claridge’s will soon be closing its doors. The celebrity chef’s residency expires on 30th June this year and it has been decided that the contract will not be renewed.

A spokeswoman for Gordon Ramsay Holdings commented: “We have taken the decision to close Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s in June 2013 following a fantastic collaboration over the last 12 years. We’d like to thank all our guests for the amazing support they have given for over a decade but felt that the time was right to move on to new opportunities and investments”.

Claridge’s general manager, Thomas Kochs, stated that “the time has come for a new dining direction,” but ended on a positive note, saying “we bid farewell to Gordon with best wishes.”

Whilst we’ll be sad to see Gordon and his previously Michelin starred menu departing from Mayfair, there are still some great opportunities for celebrity dining in the area. Wolfgang Puck runs modern American steak restaurant CUT from 45 Park Lane, and Michael Roux Jr is serving up a range of delicious French dishes at Le Gavroche. Plus, Gordon still has another restaurant in the area – his Maze offering is located on nearby Bond Street.

Mayfair has always been and will continue to an exciting destination for discerning diners, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the changes at Claridge’s will bring.
